Hi

Thank you for your email.

The Sight Loss Awareness and Guide Running Workshop is a 2hr course, comprised of theory and practical elements that individuals can take to become a licensed guide runner. The courses are in-person only and run from April-September. You can view the course schedule on Athletics Hub. If you cannot find a suitable course, you can submit your location via the expression of interest form on our website. You will be contacted in the spring for an update on course locations and booking information. Please note that due to limited resources it is not always possible to run these courses on demand and in all locations.

In addition to the course, candidates are required to complete the UKA Mandatory Safeguarding & First Aid (Tier 1) Training £20, hold a valid DBS and upload a picture to MyAthletics Portal.

Once you have received your licence card,  candidates are invited to join the Find a Guide database in which visually impaired runners can find guides in their local area and make contact. More information can be found on England Athletics and RunTogether

Many thanks for your interest

Have a nice day
